The Maritime Pine or Cluster Pine (Pinus pinaster), is a hard, fast growing pine containing small seeds with large wing. In France they're mostly found in mediterranean woods, "les landes de Gascogne", and sandy zones in general. They're planted for varioius reasons : solidate sand structures along the beach, reforest or instead of swamps.
